Housing Options – Team Leader

We now have an opportunity available for a Team Leader to join us to ensure the delivery of an excellent housing options and advice service.

Responsible for delivering an excellent, prevention based approach towards meeting housing needs within the Borough, you will lead and motivate a team of Housing Options Officers to innovatively address the challenges that people face in maintaining and securing accommodation whilst ensuring the delivery of an excellent customer service. With a firm grasp on the quality of advice provided by the team and ensuring accurate, legally compliant homelessness decisions are made where required, you will help to develop services in conjunction with partner agencies; representing Stockport Homes at external meetings when required.

You must also provide expert guidance on complex cases, maintain an up to date and detailed knowledge of homelessness and related legislation, case law and guidance and monitor the performance of the Team, ensuring targets are achieved and any issues addressed.

Candidates for this role must be capable of leading, developing and managing a team of staff, thinking laterally and creatively to solve problems and able to build excellent working relationships with partner agencies; demonstrating how these can add value and reduce homelessness.

With an in depth knowledge of complex legislation and issues, you should be able to explain these to others in a clear and understandable way and be willing to introduce new ideas and develop services – including making use of technology to deliver a more efficient and effective customer experience. Resilient and able to diffuse difficult situations in a positive way, you should have a background of resolving complex enquiries.
